Stop wasting energy in your home

Most of us know that we should have our lofts insulated, and if you have a cavity wall, the chances are you’ve had it filled at some point. However, insulation has come a very long way in recent years. New innovation including external wall insulation (EWI), internal wall insulation (IWI), underfloor insulation and closed cell spray foam insulation.

These modern insulation measures, as well as advances in the classic insulation types we’re all used to are helping UK families to drastically cut their energy bills, by reducing wasted heat, which accounts for much of your energy bill. As insulating the UK is critical to reducing our national energy usage, there are great funding options in place, typically provided for free alongside air source heat pumps and solar panels, for lower income households.

How it works

Different types of insulation for your home work in slightly different ways. However the core principle of insulation materials is that they slow the movement of air molecules carrying heat out of your home. By trapping heated air molecules, the insulation then creates a heat barrier, which helps to recirculate warm air back into your home, effectively reflecting heat inwards, rather than allowing it to escape to the outside.
